Universal design is the driving force behind the design for this project, which includes a main floor laundry room and entry addition, and a new full second story and deck. Looking ahead to the likelihood of needing a wheelchair, every area was designed for easy access. That means a gently sloped approach to the new entry, an elevator to the second level, and wider door openings. The upper level bath also has a large and wide-open shower with attractive grab bars and one of the sink cabinets is constructed so that the door and sides below can be removed as needed for use by someone in a wheelchair. The project also features a wall of carved wood panels in the hall, along with a somewhat complicated retrofitting and rehanging of a carved wood door from Asia for the office.  Completed 2019.
