  • Is it still a backyard cottage if it’s in the front yard? The answer is yes, and this little house has just the perfect massing and design.

  • The effort to replicate Tudor details really pays off, with sculpted plaster door trims and windows and doors designed to match the originals.
  • What makes these truly custom, though, is the addition of sapele to the cabinets and building the entire island in that same mahogany.
  • When you have an opportunity to build a home on the water, you think of many things: longevity, functionality, synchronicity with the environment, and most of all, comfort.

  • The porch is anchored by a custom steel railing that is duplicated at the sidewalk entry to the home--a unique design feature that really sets this project apart. All of the wood interiors of the windows were finished with a low-VOC finish--Osmo Polyx Oil. Other low- and no-VOC finishes were used in other locations
  • This room and the adjacent dining room, kitchen and all also benefit from new poplar flooring with an unusual and colorful patina. Repainting in all rooms, in some cases with lighter-colored paint, made for a refresh of all of the main floor common areas.
